The SMART-BIT® destroys data captured on used plastic card printer ribbons.
IDP's patented twisted Micro-Cut Technology pulls spent dye-sublimation ribbon into the shredder and quickly reduces it to tiny pieces (bits) that are near impossible to re-construct.
Direct-to-card and retransfer printers use film-like ribbons to print the design seen on photo IDs, credit cards, badges and speciality cards. Direct-to-card printers, the most common today, use dye-sublimation ribbons. These ribbons capture a clear image similar to a photographic negative of whatever is printed on the card.
As a by-product of the printing process, the used dye-sublimation ribbon clearly shows a reverse image (like a photo negative) of the information printed on the cards. Personal identifiers such as names, employee ID numbers, account numbers, titles and more, are left on the spent ribbon for anyone to see and potentially use for a counterfeit ID or identity theft.
Use the SMART-BIT printer ribbon shredder and all that is left is a pile of colorful bits (~2mm) and nothing left over with personal or corporate information. Peace of mind for just $790 msrp.
The SMART-BIT® shredder handles dye-sublimation ribbons from 60mm to 120mm.
